This page displays imaging from VirtualEarth™ and imaging from GoogleEarth™ is provided for comparison, see the menu below. Each system covers the UK at varying levels of detail. Check the location you're interested in on both systems to discover which one provides the best printout.

Use the [Ctrl-] keys to zoom the web page out and view the full extent of your A4 printout. [Ctrl+] keys zoom the web page in.

	MAXIMISING A4 PORTRAIT PRINTOUTS IE7 - Click the DownArrow beside the print icon top right, to reveal the Print Menu [Alt+R]. From the Print Menu select Print Preview... Click to change the orientation to Portrait. Click to enter Page Setup [Alt+U] and set all four margins to 5mm (printer permiting). Close Page Setup. Change dropdown menu from 'Shrink To Fit' to 100% and the image should fit your A4 paper perfectly. Click the Print icon [Alt+P] to open the Print dialog box. Select your A4 printer and click the Print button.

	CHANGING VIEWS IN VirtualEarth™ All views are changed via the Navigation Panel, far left. Maps... gives you a choice of 3 views: Road - Original road atlas or streetmap view. Aerial - Satellite photo imaging. Hybrid - A mixture of Aerial and Road. Bird's Eye... angled at 45° to the surface, defaults to looking North but also offers views to the South, East and West. Provides superb detail but cover is still limited in the UK but more is being added all the time. When you are centred on a location that's available in Bird's Eye, an indicator briefly appears right of the Navigation Panel and the Bird's Eye icon reacts on mouseOver.

	MOVING AROUND IN VirtualEarth™ Map view... Click&Drag the imagery in any direction and for any distance or use the Up, Down, Left or Right arrow keys on your keyboard. All three Map views, Road, Aerial and Hybrid, provide 18 zoom levels and Click&Drag works on all levels. Bird's Eye view... Same as above, Click&Drag the imagery in any direction or use the keyboards arrow keys but movement is limited to an specific area. Thumbnails attached to the Navigation panel provide links to surrounding areas and it provides 2 zoom levels. Change the direction of your Bird's Eye view using the compass icon on the Navigation Panel.

ZOOMING IN & OUT

There are a number of ways to zoom in and out and all are relevant to Map and Bird's Eye views.

1. The Navigation Panel. Either click the + or - icons or use the slider.

2. Your mouse wheel (zoom in & out).

3. Double click the imaging (zoom in only).

4. Use the + and - keys on your keyboard.

The + and - keys, when used together with the Ctrl key, cause the whole web page to zoom in or out. A great tool to see the full extent of your printout and relevant to any web page being viewed in IE7.

	CENTRALISING YOUR TARGET Click in the region of your target and drag it into the centre of your display. Now zoom in a level. Continue to zoom in whilst ever your target remains in the centre. If it moves away from the centre, and it will because it's difficult to place it dead centre, simply Click&Drag it back to the centre. After repeating this several times your target location may come into view, particularly if it's a large feature, or you may have to continue to zoom in until the lowest level at 18:18. With the target in the centre of your printout mouseOver the Bird's Eye icon on the Navigation Panel and if the icon highlights that indicates that your location is available in Bird's Eye view. Having decided which view you want to print, press [Ctrl]+[-] until you can view the full extent of what will be printed and make any final adjustments to place your target exactly where you want it.
